How our vetting works
Busy Feet is a referral agency, not a directory. Nobody lists themselves here. Every sitter in the village was invited in through the same front door, and her profile only shows badges she has actually earned. Here's the whole process, step by step.
1. A real interview
Every sitter sits down with us: her experience, her availability, how she handles a hard bedtime and a harder toddler. We hire for character and coachability, not just a resume.
2. References we actually call
"Reference-checked" on this site means we spoke to them. We call the families and employers a sitter lists and ask the questions you'd ask: Would you leave your own kids with her again? Any hesitation?
3. ID & credentials verified
We verify identity and any credential she claims. If she says CPR, we see the card. That's why "CPR verified" is its own badge, separate from listing a certification on her profile.
4. Driver Verified, when she drives
Sitters only drive children with our Driver Verified badge: license, insurance, and driving record checked by us. Her car and seat setup shows on her profile only once she's verified.
What we won't claim
You'll never see the words "background checked" on a Busy Feet profile until a formal background check has actually been run for that sitter. Formal checks are rolling out as the agency grows, funded by the business itself, and the day one runs for a sitter, her profile will say so, plainly. Until then we'd rather show you exactly what has been checked than dress up what hasn't.
